Brandon Gdula said Webb Simpson is a clear fade this week even with what he called “one of the best course résumés in golf.” Simpson has teed it up at Sedgefield 16 times since 2009, missed only two cuts, and owns nine top-10s including a win, yet Gdula can’t overlook the collapse in Simpson’s ball-striking. Over his last 50 measured rounds Simpson is merely neutral in strokes-gained approach, ranks outside the top-100 in putting, and has fallen to 146th in accuracy despite Sedgefield demanding fairways. Gdula noted that Simpson needed around-the-green magic just to tread water in recent starts, finishing T70 or worse in three of his last four PGA Tour events. With a DFS salary of $8,600 and 101-to-1 outright odds, Gdula prefers to allocate roster spots and betting units to players who are actually gaining on approach—historically the key stat for every recent Wyndham winner.
