Jamie Worsley labeled Matt McCarty a live long-shot at 100/1 (1 pt EW, 1/5, eight places). After a slow start to 2025, McCarty rattled off 11 top-25s in his final 20 events, including 4th at the Canadian Open and 3rd while defending the Bank of Utah title before ending the year 8th in the Australian Open. Although only 55th at last week’s Sony, the ball-striking was sharp – 11th GIR, 13th driving accuracy, 18th SG: Off-the-Tee – and putting (normally his calling card, 17th SG:P last season) was the lone culprit. He missed the cut here a year ago yet shot three red numbers, and has since posted top-20s on his first career visits to THE PLAYERS, CJ CUP Byron Nelson and Rocket Classic – all events Worsley cites as strong comps. A quick bounce-back with the flat stick could see him crash the each-way places.
