Kenyatta Storin liked James Wood’s chances to leave the yard against Baltimore left-hander Cade Povich. Storin pointed out that Povich owns a 6.56 xERA through four starts, is in the 25th percentile or worse in barrel rate, hard-hit rate and average exit velo allowed, and was tagged for three home runs by the Reds in his last outing. Versus left-handed hitters dating back to 2024, Povich has a 5.39 xFIP, 16.2% K-rate and a massive 50% fly-ball rate, with a mere 4.9% HR/FB that Storin believes is due to regress upward. Wood, meanwhile, sits in the 95th percentile or better in barrel rate, max exit velocity, hard-hit rate and xISO, and actually sports a .324 ISO and 43.5% fly-ball rate in lefty-lefty matchups. With the Orioles’ bullpen carrying the sixth-worst xFIP (4.37) among active rosters, Storin recommended the +440 home-run prop on Wood.
