Matt Harmon said Garrett Wilson was pigeon-holed last year, running a nine, a slant, or a screen on more than half of his charted routes and almost never being asked to work the deep middle. Those boundary-only assignments limited his ceiling and exposed him to Aaron Rodgers’ inaccurate throws in that area. Harmon thinks new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand will import Detroit’s condensed, motion-heavy, multi-formational concepts, allowing Wilson to move around the formation and attack every sector of the field rather than staying tethered to the line of scrimmage. Harmon expects a higher target ceiling and more efficient production, making Wilson a strong season-long buy at current draft cost.
