Chris Raybon projected Jared Goff to slide from fringe QB1/2 status to a matchup-based streamer now that play-caller Ben Johnson is gone. Replacement OC John Morton will try to replicate the scheme, but Raybon doubts the timing and sequencing will be as sharp. The offensive line lost centerpiece Frank Ragnow, is starting a rookie at guard, and could slip outside the league’s top five. Detroit’s schedule turns brutal: road trips to Kansas City, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago and Cleveland bring weather or elite pass rushes that historically haunt Goff. Combine a tougher slate, a shakier line, and inevitable offensive regression, and Raybon is fading Goff at any price that still bakes in last year’s efficiency.
