Rick Gehman flagged Matt Wallace as the surprise No. 6 name in his first custom Oakmont model, ranking ahead of far pricier stars. Gehman weighted driving distance (20%), greens-in-regulation (20%) and scrambling/bogey avoidance (20% combined), all areas where Wallace grades out well above field average. Wallace sits top-15 on Tour in scrambling from the rough and is a noted fast-greens putter—two skills Gehman believes are mandatory when par is a winning score. Add in Wallace’s strong record on hard setups (T14 at Bay Hill, T7 at Memorial) and Gehman thinks the Englishman owns legitimate top-20 equity while carrying minimal DFS ownership in the low-7K range. He called Wallace a perfect large-field GPP pivot and a worthwhile Top-20 bet at 6-to-1 or longer.
