Steve Bamford backed Nico Echavarria each-way at 22/1, noting a perfect blend of form, motivation and course fit. Echavarria sits 58th in the OWGR and 62nd in the FedEx Fall standings, so a top finish could lock up a pre-Christmas Masters invite (top-50 OWGR) and one of the lucrative AON “Next 10” spots that feed into 2026 Signature events. The Colombian already owns two PGA TOUR titles on grainy Bermuda/Zoysia – the blustery 2023 Puerto Rico Open and last autumn’s ZOZO Championship – and was runner-up at the windswept Sony Open in January. He keeps getting into the hunt (8th, 1st, 7th, 2nd after 54 holes at Genesis, Valspar, CJ Cup Byron Nelson and Wyndham) and just closed last week’s WWT in Mexico with a weekend −14 (only Ben Griffin, J.J. Spaun and Garrick Higgo were lower over the final 36). Bamford expects that high-ceiling, coastal pedigree to translate at short, exposed Port Royal, making Echavarria a core outright play.
