Dave Tindall sees Russell Henley as the archetype of the experienced U.S. winner that has thrived in recent Opens (Harman 2023, Z. Johnson 2015, Mickelson 2013). Priced at 50/1 each-way (eight places), Henley, 36, owns a solo 5th at Royal Troon last year—his best Open after a weekend 66-69—and is 3-1-6-8 across his last four appearances at PGA National, a course whose winners list is littered with Open champions. In 2025 Henley captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational, logged top-10s at the Sony, Pebble and Heritage, and enters Portrush on a heater: 5th Memorial, 10th US Open, 2nd Travelers. Over that three-event run he ranked 1st, 6th and 2nd in Scrambling and sits 6th in season-long SG: Around-the-Green, traits Tindall prioritises for Portrush. Although he skipped the Scottish Open (he did the same before last year’s top-five), Tindall thinks Henley’s all-surface consistency and age profile make him outstanding value to contend or grab a place payout.
