Brad Thomas said he is laying the -165 on Scottie Scheffler to finish inside the top five at TPC Southwind. Thomas pointed to Scheffler's eight top-five results and four wins this season, highlighted by victories at The Open and PGA Championship plus a 4th-place at the Masters and T-7 at the U.S. Open, to show the world No. 1 raises his ceiling when stakes are highest. Course-fit was a second pillar of the call: the St. Jude has rewarded players who gain heavily tee-to-green (Hideki Matsuyama gained 4.6 SG:T2G here last year, Lucas Glover 6.5 the season prior). Scheffler currently leads the entire PGA Tour in strokes gained tee-to-green at 2.28 per round—nearly a full stroke clear of second-place Collin Morikawa. Add in his 4th-place finish at this event a year ago and Thomas sees little reason to fade Scheffler despite the juice, framing the -165 as a fair price for a ball-striker this reliable on a layout that accentuates his biggest edge.
